Announcing Three New After- School Classes from Curious-on-Hudson at Pocantico Hills School!

Curious-on-Hudson & the Pocantico Hills School PTA is excited to bring in these new enrichment programs starting January 8, 2020! These programs focus on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) enrichment in an engaging, skill-based program.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Days and Times:
Classes take place on Wednesdays immediately following dismissal at the times indicated (3:00-4:00 PM). Each class runs for eight (8) sessions.  Click below on the register button for a complete list of session dates.

Fall 2019 Classes 

Curiologist: FUNomenal Physics 

In this unit of Curiologist, students will learn about physics through experimentation & demonstration. The class is designed to teach an appreciation for how things move (or not move) and the science behind it all. Students learn about things that fly, shoot, drop, float and explode all through hands on model building and testing. 

Grades: K-2
Wednesdays: 3:00-4:00

Global Mythology

Students will learn about common myths from around the world and explore the messages and learn about the characters. The myths will come from Greece, Ireland, Native Americans, Africa, China, The Middle East, Scandinavia, Egypt and more. Each class with create and craft an artifact from the stories they cover.

Grades: 1-3
Wednesdays: 3:00-4:00

Learn  to  code  using  the  curriculum  of code.org, a  leading  online  developer  of  programs  for  educators.  This  class  will  introduce  or  refresh  basic  ideas  such  as  repeat  loops  and  events.  Students  will  develop  their  understanding  of  algorithms,  nested  loops,  while  loops,  conditionals,  and  events.  Lessons on digital citizenship  are  also  included.  This  course  is  crafted  to  build  a  strong  foundation  of  basic  concepts  before  opening  up  to  a  wide  range  of  new  and  exciting  topics.
