Tinker away, kids. It’s your chance to explore what it means to be an inventor!
Session 1: June 25-29 Grades K-2 (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
Session 2:August 6-10 Grades K-2 (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
Your little person is our big idea person…an inventor in the making. Why invent? Because it is the essence of curiosity. To solve a problem no one has ever addressed before or to solve it in a new way. Kids are natural inventors until they are so successfully convinced that only “geniuses” invent things, they stop trying. Imagine if we told them that it was their job to solve problems, to invent solutions, to make things work better…now that’s a better way to think of yourself.
In Young Inventors, we’ll use the design process (and yes, we teach them the design process) to come up with your own ideas, test it and make prototypes (or…if possible, make the finished product). Materials involve common household things, uncommon non-household things (nothing dangerous), recycled stuff (lots of stuff) and tools, raw materials and whatever you need to make it work. An inventor needs ideas and that’s where we start…WHAT IS AN IDEA? So, you know we’ll start by exploring how ideas have changed the world and how ideas are born, developed and nurtured.
P.S. If you have some cool stuff lying around the house, by all means, bring it in!
