- Woodworking Studio
Monday, August 6, 2018 - Friday, August 10, 2018
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
For the last five years, Curious-on-Hudson has offered woodworking classes for kids where they can build skills, develop knowledge of techniques and materials and ultimately design their own piece of work. This summer we offer two sessions: A skillshop from July 2-6 and a woodworking studion from August 6-10. The skillshop is open to kids in grades 2-5 and the studio is for kids in grades 5 and up. Unlike some other providers, we offer small, personal instruction using real raw materials (no kits!). This is the ultimate STEAM experience incorporating DIY, maker, design and planning skills. The fees below include a material fee of $25 per student.
The skillshop is open to everyone – no experience required. Students will build a common project (such as the cedar keepsake box in the photo to the left).
The studio should be attended by kids who have had a little woodworking experience in any form. They should feel comfortable working with hand tools and we will also be trained to work with the instructor is cutting and drilling. Students will start the camp by designing their piece on paper and learning how to estimate and spec materials.
