The Art, Science and FUN of the Ukulele. (All ages – 10 and over)
This class meets 8 times on Saturday from 3:00-4:30 PM. Our final class will include a short showcase of what we’ve learned. Class dates are: January 12, 19 and 26, Feb 2 and 9, Mar 2, 9 and 16
Fee: $225.00 for 8 classes. We will have some ukuleles on hand for those who do not already own one. Please let us know during registration (you’ll be asked that question on the registration form). Limited to 8 students.
You can strum a ukulele the first time you hold it, but why stop at a strum? With that encouraging and accessible first strum, we’ll embark on the same lifelong pursuit of sophistication, nuance and individuality traveled by all musicians and learners alike. In STEAM UKE students are trained to use this instrument to understand the greater world of music as it relates to STEAM fields. Alexander Graham Bell played the piano. Albert Einstein played the piano and violin. Charles Dickens played the Accordion. Benjamin Franklin invented the mechanical Glass Armonica later used in the compositions of Mozart, Beethoven and Donizetti. Art and science are both methods of understanding and manipulating the world around us.
