Mechanical Engineering for Curious Kids
Curious-on-Hudson has lots of science lovers in our after school classes. These are the kids who are passionate about exploring: they love to explore ideas, design and build and they want more! And we want to give them more. Science Saturdays is the laboratory for them…a place to explore the way the world works in fun, engaging projects. In Science Saturdays, we spread our wings among different topics and teach the underlying science behind each one. All projects involve working on with your own materials and keeping track of your ideas and observations in your own lab journal. From natural sciences to physics to astronomy…we open up the world of scientific exploration to them and encourage all the questions they can muster. Science Saturdays is THE WAY THINGS WORK in a real world, serious and fun learning environment.
This spring students will get a hands-on experience doing Maker style project with a focus on MECHANICAL ENGINEERING. Students will build simple machines and study the underlying principles that make it work. Come explore frame testing, pivots and bearings, pneumatics, gears and pulleys, and more! Taught by our resident engineer, Jackie Bastardi.
