- DaVinci: August 20-24
Monday, August 20, 2018 - Friday, August 24, 2018
9:00 am - 12:00 pm
One of the most popular Curious-on-Hudson classes now offered in a 5-day camp of exploration. Modeled on Leonardo Da Vinci, the ultimate STEAM artist, inventor, scientist and creative thinker.
“One of the most fully achieved human beings who has ever lived, Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519) is recognized the world over as a figure of infinite curiosity, feverish imagination and sublime artistic ability.”
~Johanes Nathan, author “Leonard Da Vinci, Complete Drawing and Paintings”
Session 1: July 23-27, 9:00-12:00 for kids 5-7 years old or entering K-2.
Session 2: August 20-24, 9:00-12:00 for kids 5-7 years old or entering K-2.
For five years, we have offered classes in the theme of Leonardo DaVinci, the creator, inventor and artist. He is often the inspiration behind so much of what we do in that we use his legendary talent as an inspirational theme for kids to think creatively.
In our camp, students will learn how to think like DaVinci and try their hands at some of his ideas. Students work as Da Vinci did, capturing their ideas in a journal and then bringing those ideas to life in models and experiements.
The projects include lessons from our Outrageous Machines and Human Mechanics sessions plus some new ones that we’ll be trying for the first time. Each day, students learn a bit more about Da Vinci through discussion and media and then go off to try their hands at their own ideas. This camp is about learning to think freely, creatively and in a design-based model, where you design, try and re-design. Students make their projects from everyday things and enjoy taking their models home. It’s a combination of learning in mechanical engineering, art, science and a bit of technology as well.
