This session is geared for grades K-2. An afternoon session is geared for older students.
Five mornings of tinkering, building, engineering, exploring, and straight out COOL stuff to do!
Takes place Monday - Friday, April 10-14, 9:00-12:00
5 days of tinkering with cool stuff:
Starting Monday: Let's PLAN Something! We group together and discuss our big ideas. Then we'll break into working teams to take on parts of our big idea. We'll figure out how things are made by learning about tools, designs, plans, and materials. Then we sketch it all out on paper.
By Friday: We should have tried and re-tried to make our idea come to life. We would have tested (and failed) and tried again. By Friday, we have something to share with one another--what we learned. Our project may be the result of numerous tinkering iterations but we're proud of it and we share it with our friends and family.
Why Tinker? What is tinkering? When we tinker, we explore how things work or how to make things work with the freedom of knowing that trial and error is a good thing. We become better teammates and friends. We learn from our mistakes. We try harder to get something done because we OWN IT - it's ours to solve. And we try to build on a scale that's bigger than what we're used to.
Nothing special is required for this camp!
Just bring yourself and your ideas. Be willing to work with others. Keep an open mind. Know that you are working with some very enthusiastic and talented people.
